SKM THE 6TH.🇰🇪 #KOMBOAKENYA2027 ##TUKOKADI This morning I attended a church service at the Salvation Army Church in Tala, Matungulu Constituency, Machakos County. It reminded me why the Salvation Army's example matters right now. At a time when the Ruto regime has worked hard to compromise the independence of some Church leaders, this Church has held firm, choosing service, faith and integrity over convenience. That is exactly the posture our Church must keep: a voice of truth, justice and accountability, undeterred by pressure from above. That same accountability is what I demand of our leadership today. Kenya is, and will remain, a democratic nation, which is why it matters so much when police turn excessive force on citizens. That responsibility does not stop at the officer on the ground, it rests with those who lead the country. It is in that spirit that I condemn yesterday's attack on Siaya Governor H.E. James Orengo. Teargassing a sitting Governor and torching his car, barely two days after the Ruto regime promised to uphold the Constitution, tells you exactly how much that promise was worth. And it does not stand alone. It joins a pattern we have watched unfold for months: the police uniform saga, the TSC forms scandal, the grabbing of 4,000 acres in Taita Taveta, and now grave concerns over how our security forces are being recruited. Each one on its own would be troubling; together, they describe a country drifting off course. It is because of that pattern that I must speak firmly on police and military recruitment. We demand a process that is free, fair and transparent, one that produces security forces representative of all Kenyans, not shaped by ethnicity, money or political connections. We only need to look elsewhere in our region to see what politicised and ethnically driven security structures do to a nation, and we must never let Kenya walk that road. Our forces exist to serve the Constitution and the people, not political interests. None of this is an attack on the KDF, which we hold in the highest regard, and we will not stand by as anyone works to tarnish its honour and professionalism.
