I was thinking about the death penalty in Britain, so thought I'd look up the actually data... Prior to the death penalty being abolished in 1965 the homicide rate in Britain averaged 7 per million. It has increased over each following decade, & the official figures now show over 30 homicides per million. In other words a person is over 4 times more likely to be murdered now than before the British government ended capital punishment. And that seems a good starting point for any discussion about reintroducing the death sentence... Beloud
