A new Acting Vice Chancellor of Tansian University has been appointed. He is Professor (Hon) DN Carter Umeoduagu. Until his appointment, Prof. Umeoduagu was the Deputy Chancellor Academics And University Advancement of Tansian University and former member representing Aguata 1 in the State House of Assembly. Addressing Professors. Deans and HODs of various faculties and Departments of the University at the Senate Chamber, the Acting Vice Chancellor stressed the need for those of them facing accreditation in their various departments, to brace up to the challenges of meeting up with the standard required for NUC accreditation. He was of the view that Professors as the pivot on which the University rotates, must steer the citadel of learning towards the founding ideals of academic and spiritual excellence. He observed that every academic staff must exhibit a high sense of responsibility and decorum visa vis maintaining high examination standards, as mechanism has been put in place to evaluate the performance of lecturers by the students. The erudite scholar who advocated for a new Tansian University, announced that henceforth, the retirement age for academic staff in the University is pegged at 75, while those on contract should renew their contract annually or deemed to have voluntarily given up their appointments in violation.
