Four Jailed for Oil Pipeline Vandalism as Delta NSCDC Records Another Conviction The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded another major success in its fight against economic sabotage following the conviction of four individuals for conspiracy and tampering with oil pipelines. The convicts — Sylvania Elvis, Peter Ojichini, Bala Idris Adey, and Joel Bala Emmanuel — were prosecuted after a thorough investigation conducted by the Intelligence Department of the NSCDC Delta State Command. Delivering judgment at the Federal High Court, Asaba, Justice Olubanjo found the defendants guilty after ruling that the prosecution had successfully established all the essential elements of the offences brought against them. The court subsequently convicted and sentenced the four offenders to prison terms on the charges against them. Reacting to the judgment, the Delta State Commandant of NSCDC, Chinedu F. Igbo, described the conviction as a strong warning to individuals involved in criminal activities, particularly those targeting the nation's critical economic assets. He urged youths and other persons with criminal tendencies to channel their energies into legitimate and productive ventures rather than engage in unlawful acts that could lead to severe legal consequences. Commandant Igbo reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC Delta State Command to sustaining its crackdown on pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft, and other forms of economic sabotage across the state.
