Why are we living in the past when it comes to energy. Our transition to renewables has been extraordinarily flawed due mainly to uncontrollable atmospheric behaviour and distributed generation. By that I mean cloud interference, wind variables and the need for geograophic repositioning of our energy generarion sites due to the extraordinary number of solar and wind farms required. We have a number of other intervening issues which for some reason governments. operators and industry alike simply ignore. These are, biological waste, industrial waste, the poor performance of batteries and the on going need for liquid fuels, gases, chemicals and fertilizers. All of these are a growing problem which has been amplified by events in the Middle East. So what is the solution? There is one but that takes a complete rethink of our idea and achievements in the renewable and recycling front with an acceptance that 100% renewable energy is an unachievable dream at this point in history. So what does this rethink look like? It is a complicated review of our current renewable options which need to include our bioligical waste disposal and reprocessing. This means the end of landfill to be replaced by waste separators, inclusion of biodigestors to produce methane, cogeneration to burn off remaining biomass, processing of natural gas along with produced methane into syngas creating liquid petroleum, lubricants, chemicals and fertilizers. Australia does not need to wholesale mine coal or drill for oil to supply our energy, We simply need to manage our energy cycles far better than we do now and supplement them with a required supply of coal, gas and petroleum.
