Around 1300, Greenland experienced a mini Iceage. In less than one generation, the Norse Population was extinguished, or fled, possibly to Canada. The Danish King only sent ships after his tribute ( taxes ), failed to arrive. Over the ages, Denmark really hasn't done anything for Greenlanders, beyond collecting taxes. At the beginning of WW2? Denmark quickly fell to the Nazi War Machine. America quickly stepped up, and fortified Denmark against the Wolfpacks, and German Luftwaffe. Greenland was also essential to Archangel, and the flow of supplies to the Soviet Union, our Ally in the North. At the end of WW2, America revitalized the Greenland Economy, and Denmark eventually renewed it's taxation. America saved Greenland, and Greenlanders from Nazi Germany.
