The Bondi Massacre: Sunday evening's attack on the Jewish community's first of Chanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach came as a thief in the night. Yes, we have been aware of growing Antisemitism here and abroad. We have even experienced Jewish schools, businesses, synagogues, and homes being targeted and, in a number of instances, attacked. cries of "Kill the Jews," rang out as Israel was devastated by an even greater massacre on October 7th, 2023. This massacre was so hideous that it does not bear to be repeated at this time. And yet, here in Australia, Hamas followers and people of all descriptions who believed the Hamas narrative upheld the evil that took place back then and excused it. Even our Prime Minister deliberately closed his eyes and ears to what had happened and what was occurring here under his ample nose. So much was this so that he voted at the UN, on behalf of Australia and Australians to accept Palestine, still ruled by the rabid and ruthless Hamas, as being a nation in its own right, with all the favours and powers that this would bring to them. Never let it be said that I was in favour of such a vote. Since Sunday it is as if the message of Chanukkah, that of light which overcomes darkness, and is sustained, is being played out in Australia as thousands are starting to see that evil was abroad last Sunday. Thousands of wonderful Australians who call a spade a spade and do not want terrorism to be the victor here. Among them Ahmad, whom I mention, not because of his heroic act per se, but because his was a fight against the evil in his own community. As such, his caring for humanity and his brave actions are all the more laudable. He represents those of his community who care, who are not on the side of darkness, but who further the light. G-d bless him. I question whether his stance will endanger him in future. We pray that he will be safeguarded. To my Jewish community who have suffered such loss. It is human to weep and to mourn and we mourn with you, but dear hearts, when the time of mourning comes to an end, let us remember, that great light has been shed abroad due to the loss of your loved ones. Also remember that nothing or no-one is truly lost when it comes to our Creator. Beloud
