I was honoured to attend the third edition of the Governor Wavinya Cup final this evening at Machakos Stadium and to present the trophies to the champions. Congratulations to this year’s champions: Men’s: Katwanyaa FC 🏆 Women’s: Athi River Queens 🏆 Kudos to H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti and the Machakos County team for hosting a tournament that showcased real footballing talent from across the country. Football is the great equaliser. It unites, it demands excellence, and it rewards hard work. Every role matters, on the pitch and behind the scenes. Respect at the final whistle preserves the integrity of the game. Win or lose, honour and sportsmanship always come first. Just like in football, leadership and teamwork in our nation matter. Kenya’s future depends on creating opportunities, developing talent, and giving our people a fair chance to shine. Tournaments like this strengthen our local leagues, build pipelines for Harambee Stars and Harambee Starlets, and remind us that with dedication and teamwork, we can achieve more on the pitch and in governance.
