His political charisma, networks, and symbolic capital forged a near-unbreakable grip on Nyanza politics. ‎ ‎With his passing, the tectonic plates beneath Luo politics have begun to shift. And as the dust begins to settle, one figure stands at the center of speculation: James Aggrey Orengo, the veteran lawyer, activist, reform crusader, and governor of Siaya County. ‎ ‎For years, Orengo’s political destiny appeared inextricably tied to Raila’s orbit , at times challenging it, at times submitting to it, and often navigating the delicate balance between ideological independence and political survival. Now, with Raila gone, observers are watching closely as Orengo signals a gradual but unmistakable repositioning. ‎ ‎Is he trying to fill the vacuum and assume the mantle of Luo political leadership?
