"Benue State Political Marginalization'' WE ARE OUR OWN PROBLEM, NOT THE TIV. One of the debased inherent problems of man is to always looking for a cheap means of excuses and a possible way to portion blames without taking time to know if they might share in the fault. For the people of Benue South Senatorial district, it’s presumed that, the Tiv nation is the reason why they have not been able to produce a governor from among them. Could this be true or a mere allegation? Before we could respond to this answer, it may do us good to cast our minds to political events in the past with proper evaluations and cross examinations to know how we have been playing politics. Before doing that, it might interest us to know that politics is a game of superior intellectual calculation which takes people of sound political insight to work toward how the game would be played and play favourably. In the case of our political history, if we can be truthful to ourselves, we will discover that we have been our own architects, responsible for our fallout in all the elections right from the primaries going by experiences of what transpired in 2007, 2015 and 2023 primary elections respectively. The records as documented showed very clearly that lack of political unity, harmony and cohesion among us is the basic reason why we have been unable to produce a Governor. Like it is said by our people “The bird of a predator can only be controlled why still targeting its prey in the air and not when the prey is being taken” to me, it seems like we are treading on the same political mistakes of the past which have prevented us from achieving our goals. Earlier we rise up to challenge and address all the political abnormalities going on now, the better it is for us as a people. How long do we continue in this political servitude, enslavement and lamentation if we refuse to do things in the right way? Let me assert here that power is not given but taken and we must be ready to take this time around come what may. In as much as we want to take it, we must work out the best modality that could guarantee the possibility of someone emerging the Governor in 2027. To demonstrate our seriousness, we have to identify every conspicuous loophole in our political activities that are capable of betraying our ambition and agitation now than when it is too late when we will only settle down to mourn our reoccurring failure. It will be more advantageous for us also to build our house as a zone by resolving all the political differences in the various party platforms prior to party primaries.
